As a competition entry, our proposal of an extension to a University Water Science Research Centre envisages a dramatic reconfiguration providing a new entrance, innovation hub, teaching laboratories, and suite of meeting rooms. An innovative aspect of the design was the incorporation of an existing ground floor plant within the new service core, allowing substantial savings that could be reinvested back into teaching spaces.

A separate part of the project brief was the design of a new building for advanced research in wastewater treatment. The proposed building derives its form from the utilitarian existing building opposite and is brought to life through contemporary materials and detailing.
