FBM Architects were asked by Kingston University Estates to look into providing a more suitable alternative to the ‘Snack Shack’ located in the John Galsworthy courtyard at the Penrhyn Road main campus. A shipping container solution was used to provide this new accommodation. It is a familiar contemporary construction module that has enormous benefits over traditionally built temporary solutions.
A spill-out seating area adjoining the cafe creates the courtyard as a destination venue for people to meet and relax. This area can also be adapted with planting, lighting and recreational upgrades.
