East Surrey College Student Design Competition
FBM Architects were invited to assist with a competition for students on the Level 1 Art and Design Course at East Surrey College. Drawing inspiration from some of FBM Architects sketch designs for similar projects (pictured), students were tasked with designing a contemporary London Arts Centre using the technique of two-point perspective that they have been learning.
Taylor Dean was selected as the winner, with Harvey Budgen coming a close second. Prizes were presented during the College’s Diploma Show on 13th June 2018.
Simon Fraser, Director of FBM Architects said: “The art of sketching – and drawing in perspective (the subject of this work experience case study project) is still a vital skill for all of us who work in architecture and any design-related profession. The ability to clearly communicate your ideas about the spatial quality of a place can make-or-break a project. We thought Taylor’s submission showed good two-point perspective and had a nice shape to the space shown.”
